Fulham close to completing deal for Pepi

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas & James Cole:

Fulham are close to completing a deal to sign January target Ricardo Pepi for the summer.

The PSV Eindhoven striker, whom Fulham pursued right up until Deadline Day, is expected to arrive in London for a medical before the weekend.

The fee is expected to be the same as the agreement in principle reached during January; an initial fee of 30m (35m) plus a further 1.7m (2m) in add-ons.

Pending the outcome of the medical, Pepi will then become a Fulham player on July 1 after finishing the season with PSV.

Your Site Newsreported on Deadline Day that Fulham had intended to keep trying to sign Pepi after their winter-window deal fell down.

PSVs inability to sign a replacement then was a major factor.

Fernandez casts doubt over Chelsea future

Enzo Fernandez has cast doubt on his Chelsea future after their heavy Champions League exit.

The Blues were thrashed 8-2 on aggregate by Paris Saint-Germain to exit at the last-16 stage, and face a fight to return to the competition through the Premier League next season.

Fernandez captained Chelsea against the European champions but when asked ESPN Argentina after the game whether he can guarantee he'll be at the club next season, he said: "I don't know.

"My focus is here now. We have eight Premier League matches to play and the FA Cup.

"Then the World Cup coming up, so we'll see after that."

Liam Rosenior endured a miserable night, with his substitutions booed during the game and his side booed off at half-time and full-time, before he then had to answer questions on Fernandez's quotes.

"I haven't seen that," he said. "It's hard for me to speak on speculation after a game and I need to focus right now on the most important things, which is making sure we get a result against Everton on Saturday."

Fernandez joined Chelsea for 106.8m in 2023, but he has been linked with a move to LaLiga and PSG this season.

'Arsenal monitoring Man City target Livramento'

Arsenal are monitoring Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento  and RB Leipzig ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Times.

The Premier League leaders are nine points clear at the top of the table and in with a chance of winning an unprecedented quadruple, but work is already being done for the summer.

Mikel Arteta's side said to be keeping an eye on players to improve their already stacked defensive options.

Interestingly, Livramento, who has been a long-term Manchester City target, is among the targets that Arsenal are looking at.

Has Schmeichel played final game?

Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has revealed he requires surgery on a shoulder injury that will keep him out for up to a year.

The Denmark international, 39, admitted to CBS Sports Golazo that he may have played his last game of football.

Schmeichel will undergo surgery next Friday before starting his rehabilitation. His contract at Celtic expires in the summer.

Schmeichel injured his shoulder in Celtics 4-1 home Europa League defeat to Stuttgart. He played with an injection just a few days later against Hibernian - but has been sidelined since.

'Fulham agree a deal for PSV's Pepi'

Fulham have agreed a deal to sign United States international Ricardo Pepi from PSV, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Cottagers have reached a verbal agreement for a fee of 36m (31m) for the forward.

Pepi, 23,  has been in a rich vein of form in the Eredivisie this season, scoring 10 goals in 19 league appearances with PSV 16 points clear at the top of the table.

Howe: Tonali is 'fully committed' to Newcastle

Eddie Howe insists Sandro Tonali is "fully committed" to Newcastle as rumours regarding his future at the club continue to swirl.

Tonali had previously been linked with a move to Arsenal and his agent has said the midfielder wants to play for a top Premier League club in the future.

"I think the person who matters the most in this is Sandro. I take my lead from him," said Howe when asked about Tonali's future.

"All I have ever seen from him is someone who is totally committed, very much [art of the team and very selfless. He is here for the team. That is the attitude I have seen from him.

"Forget the noise around Sandro, he is fully committed."

On whether Tonali would feature against Barcelona on Wednesday after missing the 1-0 win against Chelsea due to illness, Howe added:" We'll have a look at him today. Today is the first day we have seen him.

"It's an opportunity for him to train and then we'll make a decision."

Robertson refuses to be drawn on Liverpool future

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson refused to be drawn on questions regarding his Anfield future ahead of his club's crunch Champions League clash against Galatasaray.

The Scotland international's move to Tottenham Hotspur broke down in January and his contract is set to expire this summer.

Asked about his future, Robertson explained full focus remains on ensuring Liverpool get past Galatasaray after a draw in the first leg last week.

"I don't think today is the day to discuss that," Robertson responded.

"24 hours before a massive Champions League game, I don't think anyone should be talking about their future.

"We've got such a massive game ahead of us. My full focus, being a part of this team, is to try and get through tomorrow.

"We gave ourselves an uphill battle and I think full focus has to be on. There will be time to talk about my future, but today is not that day."

Edu facing uncertain Forest future

Latest from Your Site News' Anton Toloui and Lyall Thomas:

Edu Gaspar faces an increasingly uncertain future at Nottingham Forest.

The influence of the clubs global head of football has waned during the season, which has led to question marks about his position going forward.

Forest insist Edu continues to work in his role as normal, despite not being in the stands for Premier League games in recent weeks.

Edu joined the club from Arsenal and oversaw a spend of around 180m on new players last summer, the majority of which have struggled to make an impression in Forests starting line-up.

It is understood Forest director of football George Syrnianos is leading the clubs plans for next season, with the club hopeful of maintaining their top-flight status.

Only goal difference is currently keeping Forest out of the relegation places ahead of a huge game at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis recently had to dilute his control over the club to meet UEFA guidelines for next seasons competitions.

If Forest were to win the Europe League then they would qualify for the Champions League, a competition sister club Olympiakos are also expected to qualify for.

Marinakiss shares in the club have been placed into a blind trust and he cannot have influence on football decisions until Forests European future is sorted.

Walker wants 'dream' return to Sheffield United

Burnley defender Kyle Walker says his dream is to return to boyhood club Sheffield United before he retires.

The 35-year-old called time on his international career last week, ending a stellar chapter with England.

But he has no plans to finish his club playing days just yet, insisting he wants to continue for a few more years.

"Its always been a dream to play for Sheffield United again," Walker said on The Overlap. "To start there at six years old and then leaving at 19 I spent so many incredible years there.

I hope to play for them again. I dont know when that will be. I dont know if they will want me.

Walker has more than a year left on his contract at Bunrnley after joining from Man City last summer.
